  • Serge Roetheli

    Serge Roethelli

At 50, Serge has lived a life many have dreamed of and few will ever accomplish. Built for endurance, Serge is a former Olympic boxer and mountain guide from Valais, Switzerland.

In the mid 90’s Serge took up long-distance running. His feats include the America’s Challenge (a 15,000-mile run along the Pan-American Highway from Argentina to Alaska), running the Grand Canyon in a day, and traversing all 12 passes of the Swiss Alps.

To add the miraculous to the unbelievable, Serge completed his Epic Run with a screw in his right knee installed after a skiing accident in 1996. The surgeons told him he would be lucky if he ever walked again. Serge is also the author of “Keep on Running” and is a sought after public speaker. When asked what he would like to do next, straight-faced Serge replied, “I want to run on the moon.”

Nicole Roetheli is a courageous woman who accompanied her husband as they traveled the world together. She was his coach, his crew support, his doctor and his friend as she followed him on her Yamaha motorcycle towing a small trailer, as he ran through 37 countries.

Through excerpts from her personal diary we gain insight about the delights and challenges of their extraordinary journey. Together, using their own hand-held video camera, Serge and Nicole captured the images seen in “Beyond the Epic Run.”
